Interpretation

Consecutive Interpretation

Consecutive interpretation is usually used in one-on-one or small group settings. Most common examples of it are medical or legal. Filology offers consecutive interpretation in over 150 languages. Interpreters in our network are highly-skilled linguists who adhere to strict professional standards.

Simultaneous interpretation

Simultaneous interpretation is more demanding than consecutive interpretation and is usually required in conferences or general meetings where attendees are likely to speak different languages. The most obvious example is the United Nations meetings. In this kind of interpreting, interpreters usually sit in isolated booths and use specialized equipment to perform their job—listening to the speaker through a headset and interpreting through a microphone transmitting to headsets worn by attendees. This can be so demanding that it is not unusual to have two interpreters for the same pair of languages relieving each other every 15 minutes or so.
